Chikuma Tsuboi

Welcome. I'm delighted to meet you.

My name is Chikuma Tsuboi. I'm the CEO and founder of dera. We help businesses realise their unique potential through AI, turning their distinct strengths into measurable advantages. What began in vinyl record production, where every detail matters and authenticity is paramount, led me to understand how technology can amplify rather than dilute what makes each business special.

We're in an era where AI is reshaping every industry, but too often companies lose sight of what makes them unique in their rush to adopt new technology. At dera, we take a different approach. Whether we're developing custom AI solutions, building web applications, or creating visualisation tools, we focus on identifying and amplifying what makes each business exceptional. Our goal is to create a truly distributed era where success comes not from following templates, but from leveraging technology to enhance what makes you unique.

If this mission resonates with you, let's work together.

My Background

Before founding dera, I was label division manager at Dub Store Sound Inc., where managing hundreds of vinyl releases taught me the value of precision and authenticity. During my time there, I helped launch RecordCity, which has since grown to become the world's largest vinyl e-commerce platform. I then moved on to join an e-ticket platform Zaiko as an early employee, where I grew with the company through multiple leadership roles as we scaled to over a hundred people. During COVID-19, we created new possibilities in Japan's entertainment industry by pioneering ticketed streaming shows, demonstrating how technology can open new opportunities while preserving core value.

My international background and experience across creative, software, and blockchain sectors showed me how breaking down barriers between industries and cultures creates unexpected opportunities. This perspective shapes how we approach AI implementation at dera - seeing possibilities others might miss.

Personal Stuff

Outside of work, I'm deeply involved in South African Amapiano music - collecting, DJing, and producing. I enjoy bringing people, ideas, and technologies together. Family is my foundation, and I enjoy cooking for friends and family - the excitement of discovering new flavours mirrors that special moment when you hear a sound you've never experienced before.

I look forward to connecting with you.
